Mobile Race Command Center - Trailer Build 2026

At the end of the 2025 race season, we purchased a bare 24-ft Cargo Mate enclosed trailer with a specific purpose: to build a fully self-contained Mobile Race Command Center.

Combined with off-grid power and Starlink connectivity, the trailer is designed to function as a fully independent race operations platform.

This isn’t just transportation or storage. This trailer is where race operations are staged, decisions are made, and systems are run under real conditions. Over the 2026 season, the build will progress methodically, prioritizing durability, efficiency, and off-grid capability. Every system is designed to work first—and look clean while doing it.

Flooring & Interior Protection

The floor needs to handle abuse and clean up easily. A black-and-white checkered tile floor was considered, but past experience with tiles lifting—even after proper prep—makes it a questionable long-term solution.

The current plan is a roll-on truck bed liner, applied to the floor and extending roughly 2 ft. up the walls. This creates a sealed, durable work zone that can be washed out if needed. Walls and ceiling will then be painted for a clean, professional interior.

Lighting Systems

The trailer will receive additional LED interior lighting to improve visibility during race weekends. Floor-level LEDs are planned to assist with strapping the car down in low-light conditions.

Backup lights will be added to the rear of the trailer as well—critical for night operations at the property, where ambient light is minimal.

Storage & Work Areas

The nose of the trailer will serve as the primary tool and supply area. Layout planning includes a toolbox solution paired with a bench and/or cabinet system. Storage must be secure, accessible, and logical—no wasted space, no digging for tools when time matters.

Climate Control & Off-Grid Power

The factory roof vent will be removed and replaced with a 12V roof-mounted A/C and heat unit. This system will be supported by a dedicated solar array and battery bank, allowing the trailer to operate independently of the motorhome.

Lighting, climate control, and onboard systems will function without shore power, keeping the trailer operational at the track or on the property.

Connectivity & Data Operations

Starlink Roam will travel with us to all events, giving the trailer reliable, location-independent connectivity. This is a core component of the command center concept.

Starlink supports:

  • Digital race logs and vehicle records

  • Real-time weather monitoring and forecast tracking

  • Access to tuning notes, schedules, and documentation

  • Communication and coordination during race weekends

Consistent connectivity removes guesswork and allows decisions to be made using current data—not assumptions or spotty cell service.

Cosmetic & Functional Updates

The stock grey steel wheels will be replaced. They don’t match the tan trailer or the direction of the build. Functionally fine, visually unacceptable. Clean details matter.

This trailer will continue to evolve throughout the 2026 season. Each upgrade is driven by real-world use, operational need, and long-term reliability. This is not a show build—it’s a working platform designed to perform.
